Alyssa Tamboura

Board Member

As an adult child of a formerly incarcerated parent, Alyssa is a staunch advocate for system-impacted families. Alyssa founded Walls to Bridges , a restorative justice dialogue program for incarcerated individuals and their families, with a public service grant from the Donald A. Strauss Foundation.

Alyssa presently serves as Chair of the Bay Area Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership and has brought programming into carceral facilities in the Bay Area. Alyssa is a fourth-year student at UC Santa Cruz, and was awarded a Phi Beta Kappa Key into Public Service scholarship. At UC Santa Cruz, Alyssa conducts research on secondary punishment in incarceration, and as a Pan African Fellow conducts research on issues of policing and institutional racism in higher education.
